MONACO (AP) — Monaco has made some massive changes in the hope of reversing its downward curve. The club collapsed at the end of last season, losing five of its last seven games to finish sixth in the French league and miss out on European competition. That wasn’t good enough for a club that finished third in 2021 and 2022 and has won the league eight times. Only Paris Saint-Germain (11), Saint-Etienne (10) and Marseille (9) have won the league more times than Monaco.Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev has been the majority owner of Monaco since 2011. Rybolovlev has been sanctioned by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy but not by the United States or the European Union.Monaco has been ruthless under Rybolovlev and decided to reshuffle its coaching staff and top management.Belgian coach Philippe Clement was fired in June and replaced by Austrian coach Adi Hutter the following month. Sitting in Denver traffic can cost you thousands

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:44:04 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — Nothing says a Denver commute like hitting 10 red lights for a drive that was supposed to take 10 minutes or constant breaking on Interstate 25 by Empower Field. Waiting in traffic may cost more than just your patience. A new study shows that Coloradans lose $6,740.21 a year from sitting in Denver traffic. These vehicles are stolen most from the airport — and they’re not Kia or Hyundai Most Coloradans in Denver get to work within 25 minutes. Roundtrip, the drive time is less than an hour. But when it comes to the daily commute cost, it tallies to about $26 a day, according to the study. This is lower than full-time workers' median hourly earnings, but just like Starbucks coffees, it adds up. If you're earning a Denver median wage, which is about $66,000, and spending 25 minutes sitting through traffic, expect 10% of your yearly paycheck to disappear. To make your commute less fun than it already is, for comparison, this would be around three months of rent in Denv...

Strangest things you might find under your plane

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:44:04 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — It's not just you and your luggage that fly on a plane. Airlines constantly ship cargo underneath along with your luggage, which is what makes next-day shipping possible. But, there are a few things you may not expect to sit beneath you when you're flying to and from the Denver International Airport. New direct international flight coming to DIA FOX31 spoke with Southwest spokesperson Dan Landson and Customer Service Manager Chris Rupprecht about what's usually packed with your luggage under the plane. Raw fishSeafood is one of the biggest shipments Southwest brings into Denver. It's common to ship seafood by plane because it can perish fast. Airplanes are the reason Denver has fresh fish. Along with seafood, Southwest also boards packaged perishables like meat on flights. Did you know Denver is one of the freshest non-coastal places you can get fish? There's no barrier between the luggage and the cargo, but with that being said, every item under the plane is pa...

A Florida man found himself at the heart of a blazing inferno, only to be rescued by quick-acting Orange County deputies who raced against flames to pull him from his burning vehicle. Newly released video footage from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office captured Brandon Dookharan’s terrifying predicament—trapped inside as flames engulfed the vehicle, growing larger and more ferocious by the second. Russia fines Google for failing to delete ‘false content’ about Ukraine war

Russia has fined Google 3 million rubles — around €30,000 — for not deleting what it says is fake news about the war in Ukraine.A Moscow court found Google guilty on Thursday for failing to remove from YouTube what it considers “prohibited information” — allegedly detailing how to enter certain protected facilities — and “false information” about the “special military operation in Ukraine,” despite having been ordered to do so by Russian authorities, according to Russian state-run news agency TASS. Since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has ramped up its efforts to control online content that does not agree with its narrative. On Tuesday, social media site Reddit was fined for the first time for not removing “false content.” Earlier this month, a Russian court fined Apple and Wikipedia for similar reasons. Wikimedia Foundation, which owns Wikipedia, has been fined numerous times, but has refused to comply with any of the demands to take down informa...

Maui’s death toll reaches 111 as searchers – many coping with their own losses – comb the wildfire zone

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:44:04 GMT

(CNN) — With more than a third of Maui’s wildfire burn zone now searched, children are confirmed among 111 killed as responders – many facing their own grief – continue to hunt for traces of perhaps more than 1,000 people still unaccounted for since last week’s unprecedented inferno, officials in Hawaii said.“No one has ever seen this that is alive today – not this size, not this number, not this volume,” Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said Wednesday. “And we’re not done.”“Realize that the responders that are going out there are recovering their loved ones and members of their families,” he said.About 38% of the burn zone had been searched as of Wednesday afternoon, Pelletier said, as authorities hope to cover much of it by the weekend. Combing the ashes of what used to be homes, business and historic landmarks is difficult, and identifying those killed won’t be easy, as remains are largely unrecognizable and fingerprints rarely found, Hawaii Gov...

Gary Phillips: Mighty Braves show Yankees what a championship-caliber team truly looks like

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 18:44:04 GMT

ATLANTA — Before the Yankees began their three-game series with the Braves, Aaron Boone said the opponent had “no real weakness.”“They’re kind of running away with their division for good reason,” the manager said of Atlanta, baseball’s best team. Those comments preceded an 11-3 loss for the Yankees. And a 5-0 loss in which they were one-hit. And a 2-0 loss that capped a wretched 2-7 road trip.“Right now, they’re the class of the league,” Boone said, later adding that there’s a big gap between them and the Yankees. “I mean, clearly. That’s where you want to be, and they’re obviously putting together a pretty great season.”“That’s where you want to be” is a far cry from the championship-caliber labels the Yankees undeservedly gave themselves earlier this year. Such descriptions haven’t been used lately, as the team is now 60-61 and 6.5 games out of the third and final wild...
